TMS atrás corto (TMS AFT Short), con el SOI en el HUD

El dilema de esta función, explicado en este post del foro de ED.

"I'd like to define a new term "PoI" for "Point of Interest." The idea is each sensor has its own point that could be the SPI but may or may not be. Each sensor's "PoI" would be it's individual point determined by that sensor. It is difficult to have a conversation about targeting without having this piece of vocabulary.

SPI = Sensor Point of Interest.

Because TMS Forward Long would make the current SOI PoI the SPI, which is unlikely to be the point under the gun reticle.

Normally when the HUD is SOI the PoI of the HUD corresponds to the TDC box. One calls up the HUD as SOI, slews the TDC box around, and that's the PoI for the HUD. When one designates the HUD PoI as SPI, one designates the location corresponding to the TDC as SPI.

However the TMS Aft Short command is different. When the HUD is SOI and TMS Aft Short is pressed the TDC location is not designated as the SPI. Instead a different point is designated depending on HUD mode.In GUN, RKT, and CCIP modes the SPI is set as the associated points. In NAV, CCRP, or AIM9 modes the steerpoint is set as SPI.

However using this function as a "bookmark" would likely prove disappointing. Setting the gun reticle as SPI means that the SPI is bolted to that point and thus the SPI would speed across the ground while maneuvering stead of keeping the SPI at the location that gun reticle was pointed at when TMS Aft Short was initially pressed.

I might guess it would be useful as a way to make mark points or broadcast SPI directly under the gun reticle. It's also the only direct way to return the SPI to STP in one press (assuming not in any reticle-mode.)

EDIT: MAV ADJ calibrates the wagon wheel to match the actual Maverick LOS. If you had a point target dead center in the seeker but the wagon wheel on the HUD showed off to the side you would use MAV ADJ to correct this misalignment. Each tap of DMS only produces a very small adjustment. Press UFC/CDU Enter to save the MAV ADJ correction adjustments."
