La Red es A-A y la Green A-G?????

Mira en la página oficial de Nellis, en la portada hay dos enlaces, uno a la Red y otro a la Green.

Exacto.

Red Flag es un evento aire-aire y la Green Flag es un evento de apoyo a unidades terrestres.

Bueno, decir que la Red Flag es un evento A-A no es muy exacto, hay strikes, interdiction, Electrónic War, SEAD, etc... creo que la diferencia es que la Green Flag se en conjunción hace con el ARMY por lo que prima el componente CAS como decis, pero la Red Flag dista mucho de ser un evento A-A puro.

Me quedo con la idea "Los sensores (TGP), son impresionantes, permite realizar ataque de precisión, y hacerte una idea clara de lo que hay allí abajo, PERO no sustituye el mirar fuera, no te dan una idea global de la situación"... Vamos lo de la SA famosa...

Cuantas veces se ha atacado con GBU, y si te dieran 100€ por marcar en el mapa donde la has lanzado, se perderían esos €!!... :P :P

No es una lectura sobre A10C, pero este pasaje sí que me gusta y apoya la tesis que en CAS no hay otro aparato igual:

...One (se refiere a un F-16) was on the boom and the other was on the way to the boom when the call came in from a JTAC (Joint Terminal Air Controller) for close air support for troops under intense fire. The F-16 on the boom immediately disconnected, hit the brakes and rapidly dropped back about a hundred feet, popped off its external fuel tanks and took off like a bat out of hell with the burner lit. The other F-16 made it to us, topped off its tanks, and kept its externals on after fueling.

Since they had much less fuel on board now, we flew directly over the area where our troops were being attacked and stayed on station while they did bombing runs on the enemy. Eventually the A-10's that had scrambled out of Baghram Air Base arrived on scene and took care of everything...
